I Got a GoPro Hero

By in Camera equipment
GoPro Hero

So yeah, I finally got a GoPro Hero, definitely not the newest kid on the block, but I did not need one until now. I already have a Sony HXR-MC1P but for this gig I needed a small cheap camera with time-lapse functionality. This monday it’s gonna put to the test immediately, I’m gonna shoot a 5 day and night time lapse with it for a TV show. When finished I’ll show you the result.

I bought the Motorsport version, which comes with the suction cup adapter. And with it the LCD backpack. See this little test I just made straight out of the box. Mounted on the hood of my car.

Final Cut Pro X! (so no FCP8 or 9)

By in Edit equipment, Edit software, News

Quite funny that I’m writing this while waiting on a video render of Final Cut Pro at the moment; Final Cut Pro X Is showed at the Final Cut Supermeet during NAB just a couple of hours ago. So No Final Cut Pro 8 or 9, but Apple’s Magic number 10.

Some quick takes I found on the blogosphere/twitter:

  • Background rendering; Because working in the 64 bit architecture this is finally posible.
  • Native AVC and H.264 editing; Good news for the HDSLR users and the Sony-FS100 and Panasonic AG/AF-100 users.
  • build new from the ground up; which means, beside the 64 bit story a new interface, some found it similar to iMovie.
  • Smart auto corrections: rolling shutter, audio syncing etc, all during ingesting.
  • Price $299.00 via the App Store in June

My quick take: Of course I have to touch it but the specs are quite promising. My core business is doing TV shows and we have a quick turnaround. So Background rendering, native AVC/H264 editing and the auto corrections sounds very handy to me when you have to output 2/3 TV shows a week.

Go check out the presentation:

By in Edit software, News

Interesting news going on at the blogosphere: It seems that Apple has demand all space at the annual NAB’s Final Cut Pro User group Meetup in Las Vegas this year… Since Apple does not have a booth at the show itself, rumors are going around that Final Cut Pro 8 is going to be introduced here… So stay tuned next week!

*UPDATE* CHECK THIS POST: Final Cut Pro X! (so no FCP8 or 9) *UPDATE*

Rumours where going around for weeks now, but today it is announced; a low-cost S35mm camera from Sony, for about the same price as the 4/3rd Panasonic AF-100/101. $6000. Some pics/videos below and the specs, when I have more time I write down my thoughts!
